  • AEW Dynamite 6/8/2022: PAC def. Buddy Matthews to advance to the 4-Way Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022

  • AEW Dynamite 6/15/2022: Miro def. Ethan Page to advance to the 4-Way Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022.
  • New Japan Road 6/20/2022: Clark Connors def. Yomoaki Honma to advance to the 4-Way Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022.

  • New Japan Road 6/21/2022: Tomohiro Ishii def. Clark Connors to advance to the 4-Way Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022.

  • AEW Dynamite 6/22/2022: Malakai Black def. Penta Oscuro to advance to the 4-Way Match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022.

NJPW announced via Twitter that Tomohiro Ishii suffered a left knee injury and was out of the Forbidden Door 4-Way Match, so Clark Connors took his place in the match.

The match was originally scheduled to be Fenix defending against Jon Moxley but Moxley wasn't cleared to compete in the match due to a concussion he suffered in the first Fenix/Moxley match at Grand Slam 2023.
